Pastrami and Cheese Stuffed Pretzel Sticks

Sandwich In A Stick!

I decided to combine my two favorite things, sandwich meat and bread. I created these Stuffed Pretzel Sticks for a filling tasty snack.

After mixing all the ingredients the pretzel dough is put into a freezer bag dusted with flour and this is what happens after 30 minutes and the dough doubles in size.

Using the palm of your hand, flatten dough out it does not have to be perfect.

Place around 1 tablespoon each of pastrami and cheese into the center of the dough and pinch the dough shut. You can use the board to roll the dough into a tight log.

Allow the dough sticks to soak in the soda water and baste for 2 minutes. Sprinkle the dough with more dried onion and extra salt.

After baking pretzel sticks at 475 degrees for 9-10 minutes, it's time to baste them with butter and enjoy.

Pre heat oven to 475 degrees.

In a mixer with a dough attachment, mix all ingredients well then knead for 5 minutes. Place dough in a lightly floured freezer bag and allow dough to rest 30 minutes.

Mix baking soda with boiling water in a large flat bowl allow to cool while dough rest.

Remove dough from bag and on a lightly greased surface roll dough into a log. Cut dough into 8 pieces.

You should have 8 pieces of dough. Allow dough to rest 5 minutes. Flatten each piece of dough into a flat disk.

Take a little pastrami and little grated cheese and put into center of disk, fold dough over disk and pinch ends together. Take stick and roll to seal in filling into a log.

I must confess I love great food. I decided to create The Creole Contessa blog after cooking and eating a great meal with my family Big Goo the hubby of almost twenty years and my lil’ Contessa Summer aka “Baby Girl." I told Big Goo and Baby Girl, it is just not fair to not share these great recipes with the world; and the Creole Contessa blog was born.
